Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the manufacturer or the seller. It's the rest of us that I have a problem with. Look at these pictures:

| Oakley's |
I don't have anything against sunglasses, even. It's the exorbitant prices that we are willing to spend for 'em. What gives? Those Oakley's? Try as much as $115. The designer pair didn't list the price and neither did the MP3 player. Still, how do we justify spending that much money for sunglasses. I mean, look at any of the above examples. Do they guard your eyes against UV? Yes. So they protect your eyes? Yep. Okay, so you want to look good. Right. So, go to the nearest drugstore and by some decent looking sunglasses for $10. You can buy several pair for the price of just one of the above examples.
I have a pair in each of my vehicles, a pair I keep with my travel gear, and still haven't come close to what one of the above examples would cost. Plus, I know I'm hard on these things. I once had a pair that felt nice on my nose and looked pretty good as well. Getting onto a plane, I slid my backpack (where my sunglasses were) and had to shove it under the seat in front of me. As I did, I heard a distinct "crack". "Phooey, there went another pair of sunglasses. Oh well, when I arrive at my destination, I'll go get another pair." See, if I had spent the kind of dough that it takes to buy the above glasses, I would probably do without.

I know, I probably spend money foolishly elsewhere, but, for pity's sake, on sunglasses? Robans, Oakley's, etc? Look, our economy is in the tank. Our president and congress has put us there to the tune of multi-
TRILLION dollars. AND, we are partially to blame. We keep our hands out expecting more from the government while they work to secure our vote by giving us the things they can - the ever benevolent father figure, our government. What's up with that? I'll tell you. We (all of us, the government included) have not learned to live within our means. I finally understood what "balancing the budget" means in the government definition. It means that we have a place to spend all of the money we will have (through loans and taxes), we won't have to borrow any. That's balancing the budget? Every year we go further in debt and can't figure out that the more we borrow the more we have to pay back and the worse we become. A balanced budget? HA! That just isn't right.

Now, politician, beware! If you don't fix this problem, we will fix you. I may not be able to control everyone else, but I can do my part to make sure you do your part. Don't worry about buying my vote. You had a job before this one. If you get voted out, so what? You'll get another job. You gotta help us by being the real father figure and not being a sugar-daddy. Quit feeding the addiction and stop this crazy spending. NOW!!!!!!! I have a sneaking suspicion that if the government would cut out the nutty entitlements, that those who are receiving the entitlements would begin to figure out they can't spend $115 on sunglasses, that drugstore $10 sunglasses will work just fine.
But, see, I'm weird like that.
