Memories

One year ago today life changed drastically.  This is the one year anniversary of the phone call that signaled the change to life as we knew it.  One year ago today, a NY good neighbor called to say that Mom Donovan had collapsed on the kitchen floor.  Ten months later, September 27, she passed away.  I'm not going to spend the next moments commiserating over this loss.  I've done that.  What I want to point to is the "celebration" or "remembrances" of calamitous events.  On September 11, 2009, we were still recalling the horrific events of that date in 2001.  We do this all the time.  Happy occasions, sad occasions, horrific occasions (where were you when Jack Kennedy was killed), and joyous occasions (Do you remember when Reagan said, "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall" and it happened?).  We mark our lives by these moments.  "Ten years ago today, - - - -  happened."  I guess we do that because, ... we're all just a little ...
...
... weird! ;-)
